The Launch

I have been threatening to create a website in order to curate some of my photography, and offer prints and framed images, for a long time. It’s been on the back burner for ages and I even attempted to start one around this time last year. Somehow life got in the way and a myriad of other distractions and projects took over.

However, I have spent much of the last year enjoying all aspects of photography, travelling to some amazing locations (both within Tasmania as well as Europe and Indonesia) and have loved steadily building my portfolio of images. I even took the plunge and upgraded my camera body to something that gave me the flexibility and the image resolution that I was beginning to feel my first camera couldn’t quite offer any longer. Same with my drone for aerial photography.

But then the story takes a depressing turn… in late October 2025 I had my car broken into and I lost literally every single piece of photography gear that I had spent the previous few years slowly and carefully considering and investing in. I was (and still am) devastated. I keep reaching for my camera to capture something that catches my eye and quickly realise that it’s all gone, probably hidden in the back of someone’s wardrobe sadly waiting for an easy sale on the black market…

A sorry tale and one filled with many regrets about so many things I wish I could go back and do over. Like why on earth did I leave my photography gear in the car? Well, the truth is I never know when I might need it, so many of my favourite images have been captured on the fly, on my way somewhere and the late afternoon light and calm waters conspirte together to create a stunning scene. And then how frustrated I have felt to have left the camera at home, so I have always kept it with me at all times to avoid those disappointments.

Of course I would do things differently if I could go back in time but sadly that’s not an option. Instead, I made a decision to use this tough lesson and camera-less time as an opportunity, to somehow turn a crappy situation into something constructive and positive. And so this website was born! So launching it is bitter sweet, I am so pleased to have found the time and focus to plan, create and build it, together with the images included so far, but at the same time I truly wish I still had my photography equipment. But I truly believe that one might not have happened without the other, so I have found a quiet peace and sense of accomplishment that might not have been possible without the theft.

And I am hopeful that I will slowly start to replace everything that has been lost, and I am very much looking forward to getting back out into the wild with a camera in hand…

The very first framed print since launching! This is “Mountain Brew” in an A3 Artwork Size and finished in a Natural Timber Tasmanian oak frame.
